Plan of Salvation

GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION

Man has a natural desire to be his own boss and to ignore God's principles for living. The Bible calls this attitude “sin.” "All have sinned and fall short of God's glorious ideal. Romans 3:23 (NLT)
HOW TO BECOME
A CHRISTIAN
Everyone tends to run away from
God and rebel against Him. The Bible calls this "sin." Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Some may say, "So what? Everyone sins and I'm no worse than anyone else."
The Problem and the Solution:
The problem is the consequences of sin. Romans 6:23 tells us "For the wages of sin is death . ."There is an alternative. This same verse gives us hope when it states " . . but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord."
God did this for us because He loves us and wants us to know Him. "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 NIV)
Yes, God loves us and wants to save us from the penalty and power of sin, to offer you a new life of hope. In John 10:10, Jesus said, "I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full."
To give us this gift of salvation, God made a way through His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 says, "But God showed his love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
We receive this gift by faith alone. Each person has been given enough faith to believe. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God--not the result of works, so that no one may boast."
You may be wondering:  What Does God Want Me To Do?
It is as Simple as ABC

1. Accept God's free gift of salvation. Don't try to earn it.
“For it is by grace you are saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV)
2. Believe that Jesus died to pay for your sins, that He rose again and is alive today.
“If you confess that Jesus is your Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9 NLT)
3. Confess that God has not been first place in your life and ask Him to forgive your sins.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from every wrong.”
(1 John 1:9 NLT)
Faith is a decision of your heart demonstrated by the actions of your life. Romans 10:9 says, "because if you shall confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and shall believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved:"

If you are choosing right now to believe Jesus died for your sins and to receive new life through Him, pray a prayer similar to this to thank Him for your new life:
prayer.gif (4787 bytes)
"Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died to forgive me of my sins. I now accept Your offer of eternal life. Thank You for forgiving me of all my sin. Thank you for my new life. From this day forward, I will choose to follow You."

If you prayed this prayer, share your decision with a Christian friend or pastor. If you are not already attending church, find one in which you can worship and grow in your faith. Following Christ's example, ask to be baptized as a public expression of your faith.

We'd love to hear about your decision to follow Christ. Please let us know by sending us an email at info@isbc.org.
