Awana Welcome

What is Awana?
AWANA is a non-denominational youth ministry committed to “reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him.”  It takes its name from 2 Timothy 2:15:  Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.  That verse reads: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of  Truth.” The AWANA mission is very simple -  reaching children around the world with the good news that Jesus Christ loves them and can save them from eternal separation from God.
The Awana program works in unison with the other Children’s Ministries at ISBC to help your child learn about Jesus.
The club for pre-threes is called “Little Lambs”; the club for three- and four-year-olds is called "Cubbies"; for K5 through 2nd graders, the clubbers are called  "Sparks"; and for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders, the club is "T&T" , which stands for Truth & Training.
Fall of 2007 introduces the new Awana club called Puggles! This is for our preschoolers who are 2 years old by September 1.

What happens each night at Awana?

Wednesday evenings consist of a 90-minute session featuring three segments: Game Time, Handbook Time and Council Time. During Game Time, boys and girls play games on the unique AWANA Game Square. In Handbook Time, children work through age-appropriate handbooks memorizing Bible verses and doing activities ranging from patriotism to community service. They earn awards based on their work. The final segment, Council Time, can consist of singing, puppets, Bible stories and lessons based on Christian principles.
